Picturesque Queenstown

Here we are in beautiful Queenstown. We flew in yesterday over fabulous picture book scenery of lakes and snow capped mountain terrain.

I’ve been looking forward to coming back to Queenstown. The last time we were here was way before Kien was a twinkle in my eye, and it was winter time too, so it is nice to be able to see a contrast between the different seasons.

We are here for a mountain biking event that Jef and our friend, Rob, will be riding tomorrow. We are staying in a 3 bedroom lodge sharing with Rob, his wife and their 15 month old daughter, and their friends - another family with 2 kids both under the age of 2. We used to ride quite a bit with Rob and a bunch of other mountain biking fanatics, and have all been away on numerous trips together - both trails and events. This is the first time we are going away for an event where I’m not participating. It’s so weird.

Late yesterday afternoon we all trooped down to the playground at the lake for the kids to burn off some steam. Kien and Jef spent time feeding the ducks and skimming stones.

Everyone then headed back to cook dinner, but we decided to stay out instead. We had dinner at a place where kids dined free between 5-6pm - perfecto!

We then wandered back to the lake edge and played there for a bit longer before heading back to the lodge.
